Becoming a Buffalo
Who Can Join?
To become a member, you must be a man aged 18 or over. While many affiliated orders require you to be a "True and Loyal Supporter of the British Crown and Constitution," lodges in other countries have adapted their rules to require support for the constitution of the nation in which they operate.
We pride ourselves on being a fun fraternity where men of any religious or political views are welcome. To maintain harmony, discussions about politics and religion are strictly forbidden during our meetings.
What to Expect
Lodge meetings are structured like an "Ancient City," with a chief officer known as the Worthy Primo and subordinate officers. Officers wear distinctive regalia, while members have their own "jewels" (medals). A typical meeting begins with a formal session and then moves into "harmony," a time for fellowship, jokes, songs, and other forms of entertainment.
Our formal dress code is usually a shirt and tie, coat or jacket, and trousers.
Our Degrees of Membership
As a member, you'll have the opportunity to advance through different degrees of membership, each with its own traditions and ceremonies.

Certified Primo (2nd degree)
Knight of the Order of Merit (3rd degree)
Roll Of Honour (4th degree)
Reaching the highest level, the Roll of Honour, is a significant achievement that takes a minimum of ten years.
